Department Exams
The ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Testing Center Offers departmental exams on behalf of University of Alaska degree programs. Candidates should consult their program advisor prior to scheduling to make sure they are eligible to take the exam.
- Computer Skills Placement(UAS)
CSP quickly assesses a student’s knowledge of the seven basic computer skills required for academic and workforce success in today’s digit world. CSP contains ten multiple-choice items (questions) from each of seven subject areas.
These knowledge areas are listed on the CSP test:

Knowledge Area 2 - File Management
Knowledge Area 3 - Word Processing
Knowledge Area 4 – Spreadsheets
Knowledge Area 5 – Databases
Knowledge Area 6 - Presentation
Knowledge Area 7 - Information and Communication

- Library Skills
LS101 is a one-credit required course for UAF Bachelor's and Associate degrees. To fulfill this requirement you may choose one of the following options:
- Pass the LS101 course.
- for a face-to-face or online LS101 class.
- The minimum passing grade for LS101 for most degrees is C- (1.7). Education programs (Elementary, Secondary, and Child Development & Family Studies) require a C (2.0).
- Pass the UAF Library Skills Competency Exam.
- To register, contact at 907-455-2060 or uaf-testing@alaska.edu. There is a $30 registration fee.
- You may take the exam even if you are enrolled in a LS101 course; If you pass the test while you're enrolled in LS101, remember to drop the course to avoid course fees.
- You may take the exam up to two times;
- You may take the exam even if you don't live in Fairbanks.

The Major Field Tests are for academic majors in Biology and Natural Sciences. Your department will inform you if you need to take the Major Field Test.

- Approximately 24 hours before the exam, you will receive an email from the Testing
Center with instructions that includes an exam code for taking the exam.
