Pre-GER Courses

Depending on placement, WRTG 080, WRTG 090, and WRTG 110 help students prepare for their Written Communication General Education Requirements.

  • WRTG 080

This course is designed for students who struggle to understand academic or longer texts, and who find it difficult to produce writing. Students who take this class will benefit from both an individualized focus on writing skills, collaborative discussions about readings, and time to improve their sentence-level writing so that it is easy to read.

  • WRTG 090

This course is designed for students who have had limited opportunities to practice writing in classroom settings or who have struggled with reading in their high school classes and thus would benefit from a reading and writing class.

  • WRTG 110

This is a writing course that helps students prepare for the more rigorous requirements of the required WRTG A111 writing course. This is achieved by having you write often and for a variety of purposes. You also will view sentence patterns and grammar rules, and you will be introduced to academic citation and research practices.
