Biography
Osama Abaza, PhD, is a Professor of Civil Engineering with a academic and industry
background spanning 36 years. He currently holds a faculty position at the University
of Alaska Anchorage (老澳门六合彩开奖记录), where he has been an integral part of the institution for
the past 16 years. Dr. Abaza obtained his doctorate degree from Brigham Young University-Utah
(BYU), complemented by master's and undergraduate degrees from the University of Toledo-Ohio
(UT).
Throughout his career, Dr. Abaza has made significant contributions to the fields
of civil/transportation engineering, traffic engineering and traffic safety, as well
as pavement engineering and sustainable materials. His expertise extends to both academia
and industry, having served as a Department Chair, Vice President for Administrative
Affairs, and CEO of a consulting firm. This unique combination of experiences has
provided him with valuable insights into the practical applications of his research.
In addition to his role at 老澳门六合彩开奖记录, Dr. Abaza serves as an Associate Director for the
Pacific Northwest Transportation Consortium (PacTrans), a USDOT University Transportation
Center (UTC) dedicated to Federal Region 10.
Dr. Abaza's contributions to the field of civil/transportation engineering are well-documented
through his extensive publication record. His current research interests primarily
revolve around cold region transportation issues, such as traffic safety and enforcement,
driver behavior, pavement design and management, assessment of roadway structural
design, sustainable materials for cold region environments, economic evaluation of
pavement structures, and the effects of climate change on roadway infrastructure.
Dr. Abaza is a member of several professional organizations, including the American
Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), IEEE-Vehicular Technology Society (VTS), and the
Transportation Research Board (TRB). He actively participates in national project
panels for organizations such as the National Cooperative Highway Research Program
(NCHRP) and the Behavioral Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Program (BTSCRP).
