Biography
Rebeca Maseda has an extensive record of publications (as well as grants, conference presentations, guest lectures, etc.) on film and gender, and language learning. Throughout her career she has delved into contentious issues pertaining to the relationship between gender and Feminism(s). Her last research focuses on cinematographic representations of violence and trauma: the possibility of depicting trauma, and alterative modes of representation that avoid traumatization, victimization, voyeurism, aestheticization, and trivialization. She is currently part of the research project ref #: FEM2015-65834-C2-2-P funded by the grant MINECO I+D+i Subprogram of Generation of Knowledge, State Program for the Promotion of Excellence in Scientific and Technical Research of the National plan for research, development and innovation of the Ministry of Economy and Competitivity, Spain.Teaching Responsibilities
She teaches Elementary and Intermediate Spanish courses as well as Upper-division courses such as Ghosts or War, Postwar and Transition to Democracy in Contemporary Spanish Cinema, A Hundred Years of Spanish Women鈥檚 Lives in Cinema, Gender and Sexuality in Spanish & Latin American Cinemas, Language Learning and Hispanic Media, and Spanish Civilization. She received in 2014 the Chancellor鈥檚 Award For Excellence in Teaching.Publications
