Nov. 5, 2013: Get on the soapbox

Tuesday, Nov. 5, 4-5 p.m. Student Union, North Cafeteria

Students will "get on the soapbox" and give 2-3 minute speeches arguing for or against a smoke-free campus. At the end of the hour, three finalists will be selected and their speeches will be posted on this website where anyone can vote for an audience favorite. Prizes will be awarded to the three top finalists ($100 gift card for first place, $50 gift card for second place and $25 gift card for third place). If you can't catch the speeches live in the Student Union, be sure to  to watch a live simulcast of the event.

Get on the soapbox: To participate, you must be an enrolled student in good standing. You must  to reserve a spot (participation is limited to the first 15 registrants). A waitlist will be started once full. Please plan to be available between 4-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, for the soapbox event in the Student Union, North Cafeteria.

For those not getting on the soapbox, there are three ways to get involved:

  1. Watch the competition unfold live in the Student Union.
  2. Watch the live simulcast video .
  3. After the event, watch the videos of the three top finalists and vote for your favorite.
