by Ted Kincaid  |

Sleep StudyChristopher Jung, term assistant professor of biological sciences, is currently seeking 16 participants for a study to determine if seasons impact our mood and the way we sleep. Jung and his team will also investigate whether the circadian rhythm has an impact on peoples' mood and sleep patterns.

The study will take place over the course of two weeks--one week surrounding winter solstice (Dec. 21, 2012) and one week surrounding March equinox (March 20, 2013).

During the study, participants will be required to call in to a voicemail system each evening prior to going to bed. They will also wear a watch to monitor wrist movement and a headband to measure sleep quality. Additionally, participants will complete questionnaires on the topics of mood and seasonal affective disorder.

For more information or to sign up for this study, email uaa_sleepstudy@uaa.alaska.edu . Participants should be between the ages of 18-55 and be in good health.
