The play "Growing Up Native" presents a unique opportunity to bring people from all walks of life together to celebrate Alaska Native American Indian Heritage Month. It is a humorous and provocative peek into the trials and tribulations of growing up in Alaska. After the play, a panel discussion with Q & A from the audience will take place.

Ed Bourgeois, of the Alaska Native Heritage Center, produces and directs this performance, which is based on the book Growing Up Native In Alaska.

The book is a compilation of interviews with 27 young Alaska Native leaders about their lives, their futures, the impact of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, and how they are "finding innovative and creative ways to live in two worlds." All contributors to the book have been invited to attend this performance. The book and new DVD of "Growing Up Native" will also be available at the event.
