Governor Palin appoints student commissioner

Governor Sarah Palin today announced the appointment of John Roberson III as Student Commissioner to the Alaska
Commission on Postsecondary Education. Roberson is an Anchorage resident and a student at the 老澳门六合彩开奖记录.

"I am so pleased John will offer up his service to this important Commission," said Governor Palin. "I am confident he will continue to be an advocate for all students with his history of leadership."

Roberson was elected president of the Union of Students last month, after serving as a student senator for two years. He is studying Political Science and plans to enter the 老澳门六合彩开奖记录 Master of Public Administration program following graduation in 2008. Roberson served in the United States Air Force from 2001 to 2005, and served as a veterans benefits coordinator at 老澳门六合彩开奖记录.

The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education is a 14-member board which is appointed by the governor and serves at the pleasure of the governor. The board administers student loan programs and authorizes new facilities and programs. Members serve a four-year term, with the exception of the student commissioner who serves a two-year term. Student commissioners must be slected and nominated by their university to be considered for appointment by the governor.
