The Center guides Alaskan youth & adults into health career pathways through hands-on exploration activities. These programs provide opportunities to earn entry level industry recognized credentials such as Basic Life Support, Mental Health First Aid, Mandt De Escalation Training.
Activities include:
Youth Exploration Camps
Kids will participate in hands-on and engaging week-long programs to explore careers
in allied health, public health, behavioral health and medicine. Each camp includes
an industry recognized credential and may be offered for dual credit.
Rural Health CTEPS
In response to the shortage of career and technical education instructors in rural
Alaska, the Alaska AHEC partnered with the State of Alaska Department of Education
and Early Development. Rural Health CTEPS provide districts with qualified instructors
to implement career pathways in a format that best meets the needs of each school.
PATH Academies
The Pre-Apprenticeship Training in Healthcare (PATH) Academy is for Alaskans 16+ who
are interested in exploring potential career opportunities within healthcare. This
hands-on training helps participants to become CPR certified, receive mental health
first aid training, gain job readiness skills, and learn about employment opportunities
in their area.
