Lysistrata
By Aristophanes
Showdates: March 1-10, 2019
Join us as ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ theatre students work with a 2,400 year old anti-war, sex comedy that remains as relevant today and as dirty as ever. This bawdy comedy by the ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes, was first staged in 411 BCE. It is the comic account of one woman’s extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesian War, by convincing the women of Greece to withhold sexual privileges from their husbands as a means of forcing the men to negotiate a peace. The men quickly learn that they can have war or sex, but NOT both.
This particular version of Lysistrata was adapted by Jeffery Henderson. Making the dialogue approachable, the jokes hilarious, and the play as ridiculous and bawdy as it was over two thousand years ago.

Angela’s claim to fame is that she has eaten an entire pint of Ben and Jerry’s in one sitting without actually being sad. He is proud of the work the cast and crew have put into this production, and will gladly accept monetary gifts of appreciation on their behalf.
Isaac Mendel has been doing theatre since the mid-naughties. He’s starred in Shakespearean comedies (Merry Wives of Windsor) and indie romantic dramas (My Eyes Adored You by Brandon Lawrence), but has never before had the honor of being a red-scare Spartan making penis jokes. He has a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics, which he’s clearly putting to good use.
Anna Padrick is a junior majoring in Spanish and economics, and is delighted to return to her theatrical roots for her first full-scale ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Main Stage theatre production. For the past three years, she has been an active member of the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ dance community, but in 2018, she was roped back into the theatre world as Max Bialystok in an abridged version of The Producers for the spring directing scenes. This time around, she couldn’t miss the opportunity to work with her sister Becca, who is in her final semester at ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼. She’d also like to apologize to her grandmother for the content of the show (Sorry Gma Mikki!).

James Peritz is a junior at ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼, and is very honored and excited to be part of a rambunctious and hilarious production such as this. James has also been in ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼’s production of Radium Girls as several salesmen characters, and has also been in other productions such as Hamlet at TBA Theatre and in While Ireland Holds These Graves as Paddy. One of his favorite physical comedy shows was Soapy Smith’s Alaskana Extravaganza as the bad guy Frostbite Fred, which had the honor of performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015. One of James’ favorites parts about theatre is the rehearsal process, when everyone is working together and bouncing new ideas off one another and being open to anything, and witnessing how the production has grown. He is so glad to have worked with such a creative and hilarious cast and team and wants to thank his director and everyone for letting him be a part of it.

Her past roles include Vera Claythorne in And Then There Were None, The Dauphin in Marie Antoinette, Comrade Chin in M. Butterfly, and several other roles. When she is not onstage, Lisa-Marie enjoys spending time with her husband, Kevin, and her cat, Couscous.
