Betrayal
By Bryony Lavery
Showdates: April 26-28, 2019
Three characters—a mother whose 10-year-old daughter goes missing, a grieving American academic writing about serial killers, and a serial child murderer – intersect over grief, trauma, and murder. As their lives collide, they pursue the possibility of forgiveness and healing. Frozen is a profoundly human play exploring how we deal with life’s most extreme traumas, and asks how can we move on after the worst imaginable grief.

When Angela grows up, she wants to eat a lot of cake and leave a really cool ghost.
Devan Hawkins (Nancy) is ecstatic to be joining this incredible cast in Bryony Lavery’s Frozen. Devan hails from the desolate corn and cattle country known only as Nebraska but after two years of trudging through ice and snow, has officially earned her Alaska residency. During this time, she has worked in short films, workshops, festivals and community productions in and around Anchorage. You may have seen her in BIZZAY’s The Human Condition (Amara), Quickdash Films’ Dasher (Abby) or that one computer repair commercial! Dr. Brian Cook (Ralph) is assistant professor of theatre at ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼. His research focuses on contemporary British theatre, particularly on the work of the Cherub Company in the United Kingdom and abroad. Brian has presented at various conferences and has published in Theatre History Studies, Theatre Survey, Performing Arts Resources and the LMDA Sourcebook. He previously ran the untitled Theatre Company which toured a short play dealing with interpersonal violence to schools and volunteer organizations, and he has worked at professional theatres in upstate New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Colorado, Florida, and the U.K.
Kat Banner (Guard) is a junior at ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼, though it is only her second year. She is dual majoring in English with a concentration on postsecondary education and theater with a design and technical concentration. She has a love for both the performance and technical side of the theater. She acted at West High School, but now she primarily works behind the scenes of our community theaters. Her most recent accomplishment was stage managing The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at Anchorage Community Theater. Her biggest dream is to become a stage manager or a professor in the arts. - Creative
